GUEST BLOGGER: Arielle FROM SomethingnAvy

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

I started my blog, SomethingnAvy, 4 years ago after a break up. It was the perfect outlet for me and the best way for me to express my personal style and myself. My style has evolved over the last couple years. It is so crazy to look back at my blog from the first couple of posts to today. I see the changes that have been made and how I’ve grown into the person I’ve become all based on my fashion style and sense. I used to be very much out there with my style but when I look at my recent posts in the last year, I see how much more subdued I’ve become. I’m a lot more simple and classic but always a pop of edge to my look. For example I’ll wear a worn in white t-shirt with basic black skinny jeans and then massive ACNE blue and turquoise pumps. I will always carry a piece of myself from my past as I move forward.

I love the Luella boot because it really reminded me of Sloane Peterson from Ferris Bueller whom I love. Her style inspires me, so I was excited to get a pair of fringy suede boots to pair with jeans and a t-shirt. Like I mentioned earlier about my style, I think these Luella boots would look fantastic with jeans, a t-shirt and a leather jacket.

I’m a big fan of hunter green. Pairing up an oversize cozy sweater with lace mini shorts and boots is the ideal combination for sexy chic. I invested in the Adele rocker biker boot for every day use. I needed a shoe that I can throw on to walk my dog, run errands in, and not worry about it going with my outfit. These for some reason work with almost everything I own.

Guest Blogger: Danielle from WeWoreWhat

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

Hey guys, it’s Danielle! WeWoreWhat is a street style turned personal style blog, where I provide my followers with a daily lookbook of outfit inspiration. I write about my personal experiences and show my readers how they can combine vintage and new to make the perfect outfit! Fall is absolutely my favorite season because of the layers and BOOTS.

I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of knee high boots for a while now and finally came across a pair that work with so many different looks. These Tucker boots by Sam Edelman are sexy and versatile. I’ve also been lusting of sweatshirts this season – especially when they have a little edge, like these embellished sleeves. When wearing sweatshirts this season I definitely stay away from simple leggings or jeans, and try to mix untraditional pieces. This leather peplum skirt is just too cute.

The Petty boots I wore with this outfit are totally my style and were the perfect shopping buddies. They’re super comfortable and really easy to throw on when you have no clue what shoes to wear. Come on girls, we all know this happens!

I love these new paisley jeans and couldn’t wait to wear them this Fall. I decided to pair them with a camel colored leather jacket (to keep things light) and these western feel Perry boots from Sam Edelman. These boots are such a beautiful color and will look awesome when surrounded by the Fall leaves!

Danielle Bernstein is a New York City native, major league thriftier, and true entrepreneur. In September 2011 she began photographing street style on campus at the Fashion Institute of Technology (where she attends school). The street style blog quickly grew and so did Danielle’s klout throughout the fashion industry. Taking a new direction after Fall New York Fashion Week 11′, WE WORE WHAT began focusing on Danielle’s personal style.

Sam’s Game Day Style Playbook

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

Whether you’re tailgating with friends or just hitting up the local sports bar, catching a football game is great chance to stylishly flaunt your team colors with a sporty yet fashionable outfit. Of course, dressing for the big game can be tricky given the unpredictable weather and style conditions of every football climate. So if you’re planning on taking in some pigskin this season, it’s time to huddle up, because we’ve created some game day looks that will let you show off your team spirit no matter which city you call home.

New York

The big apple is a city divided when it comes to football; which means your game day attire really depends on whether you support Gang Green or the G-Men. If you’re a Giants fan, we recommend sporting a pair of red Lisle boots with a striped sweater, boyfriend jeans, and knit beanie.  Finish the look with the Quilted Leather Moto Jacket and Hugo Messenger for a game day ensemble that’s ideal for crowds and stadium seating.

If you’re a Jets fan, your game day look should kick off with the stacked heel Perry in Putty. Team this bootie with some skinny jeans, a color blocked sweater and our Convertible Jacket in Olive for a versatile game day outfit. For an extra point of style, tie it all together with a pair of fingerless gloves and our Signature Snake Crossbody bag.

Chicago

With cool breezes from the Great Lakes sweeping through the streets, the Windy City definitely lives up to its reputation. These conditions mean your game day attire needs to stand up to the cool and breezy elements if you’re going to cheer on the Monsters of the Midway. We recommend audibling to a pair of orange jeans, a navy sweater, and some winter-ready accessories. Tie the whole look together with a pair of the sleek Penny riding boots and the Vintage Loren Crossbody bag. If you’re hitting up Solider Field, you may want to bundle even more in the Hooded Puffer Coat so you can stay chic and toasty while rooting on ‘Da Bears.’

Miami

If you’re planning on cheering on ‘the fish,’ you better get ready for a sun soaked afternoon. With high temperatures hitting the south Florida field all year round, we’re keeping it cool in bright aqua cutoffs and a loose fitting tank. Then, add a bit of Miami heat to your game day style with the Sebastian loafer in orange and exotic leopard, and the Chantal pouchette in coral. Fins up!

Dallas

There are few places better for showing off your true Big D spirit than at a Cowboys game. Channel your inner cowgirl by pairing the Stevie boots, with some Lone-Star wash cutoffs, a white tank, and (you guessed it) a cowboy hat. Finish off the look with some blue sunglasses and the Georgiana Fringe Crossbody for one Texas look that nobody could mess with.

What NFL team do you root for and how do you keep it game day chic in your Sam Edelman shoes?  Let us know on Twitter, or show us on Pose, Instagram or Facebook.

Sweet Fall Colors

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

Cranberries, plums, merlot, cabernet… These may all seem like the ingredients for a decadent dessert, but in fact these deep, rich hues are some of the go-to colors of the fall season. From suede to leather and everything in between, we’re showing you some of the sweetest styles from our Fall Collection, and the bold colored confections that inspired them. Drooling is allowed.

Alvin Purple Multi/ Pomegranate- Chocolate Dessert

The sultry result of bringing pomegranate- chocolate dessert to snakeskin embossed leather, The Alvin smoking slipper in purple multi snake features Fall’s hottest exotic print trend in a vibrant mix of purple, magenta, and strawberry red.

Danielle Paparazzi Pink/ Raspberry Sorbet

Fashioned in creamy pink suede, the sharp pointed Danielle looks as sweet as freshly made raspberry sorbet. With a little snakeskin detail on the cuff and a sexy metallic stiletto heel, this pump is a treat no one can resist.

Vintage Perry & Vintage Loren Oxblood/ Red Wine

Whether you pick Malbec instead of Merlot, or crossbody over hobo, you have to raise your glass to the different varietals of the Vintage Loren handbag. In oxblood red leather with gold studded hardware, these versatile accessories are the perfect pairing to any outfit.

Knox British Burgundy/ Black Cherries

Stemming from the deep hue of black cherries, the Knox in British Burgundy definitely has a sexy side. This juicy Fall bootie gets laced-up with an ankle strap and studded details to keep you buckled in and making a statement in all the right ways.
