The Anatomy of a Shoe: The Elsa

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

It’s easy to see why the Elsa is turning heads and making jaws drop this fall.  This no-nonsense bootie is bursting with fierce details that give it an unquestionably bold and sexy allure. Here are 5 reasons why we think the Elsa has its ferocious appeal:

1. Tie me up! -  With front and back lace up detail, the Elsa gives you a snug corset-like fit

2. Spike obsessed – A line of spikes along the heel contribute to the Elsa’s signature edginess

3. Animal instincts –Go wild in the Elsa’s various animal prints like snow leopard and tan tiger

4. Scalloped hem – A scalloped hemline adds a chic touch of sophistication to the Elsa

5. High and mighty - Stand tall and elegant in the Elsa’s long pointed heel

Now that you know the details, its time to pick which color Elsa you’ll be lacing up this fall.

Not Just Loafing Around

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

There are few styles of shoes more classic than a pair of loafers.  Traditionally a slip-on leather shoe shaped like a moccasin with a flat heel, the loafer has become an absolute wardrobe staple. However, the fact that the loafer has become so commonplace is also what makes it a bit, well… boring.

It’s for this reason that we’ve put our signature twist on the traditional loafer with a series of Fall Collection styles that step up this classic style. Here are a few of the not so-traditional loafers we’re rolling out this season.

It’s all about details when it comes to the “Jalen.”  This embellished moccasin brings the loafer to the next level with studs, tassels, lacing, metal hardware, and stitching. Available in a series of animal prints as well as some basic colors, the Jalen looks great when paired with cargo pants and a sweater for a comfortable weekend look.

Typically smoking slippers are a bit simpler than the average loafer, but that is far from the case when it comes to the “Alvin.” This stylish yet comfortable slip-on shoe skips the basic color palette in favor of wild materials like the snake skin purple multi and the brahma hair snow leopard. Try pairing these flats with leggings, and a cardigan for an on-trend, feminine look.

The  “Deanna” steps up the traditional loafer by adding a large wedge heel to give the shoe some welcomed lift. Perfect for the office; yet stylish and fun enough for a night out on the town, this British–inspired wedge is the best of both worlds. Try pairing with a pencil skirt and tucked in blouse for a fun yet professional office look.

Is it a loafer?  Is it a boat shoe?  Is it a moccasin?  When it comes to the “Sebastian” the answer to all is simply “yes.” This fun style reworks the classic boat shoe by combining exotic leathers, vibrant colors, espadrille detail, and leather laces. With this combination of detailing, the loafer has never looked so cool. Try pairing this shoe with a striped tee and denim skirt for a fun, nautical look.

Cap It Off

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Cap toes are one trend you should say “yes!” to this fall. This stylish accent gives any classic shoe a modern spin by introducing a unique dose of color contrast and chic edginess. This modish twist is what makes cap toed shoes so versatile, since they can be worn to dress up or dress down an outfit. To demonstrate, we picked a few of our favorite cap toed shoes from our fall collection and suggested some ways to work this hot trend into your daily ensemble:

The “Baxton 2” has combined this season’s hottest color combinations into a cap toed ballet flat that’s as versatile as it is chic. Slip on a pair with some skinny jeans and a silk top for a comfortable, on-trend look.

The “Finn” is a classic sling-back pump gone wild with a colorful cap toe and a matching block heel.  Its animal print accents and contrasting shiny metallic material make this heel the perfect way to spice up that little black dress for a night on the town.

It all about mixed materials when it comes to the “Felix.” With a matching cap toe and heel along with an inside zipper, this versatile bootie exhibits both style and functionality. Pair it with a sweater dress, tights, and a bold necklace for a chic and sophisticated look.

Now that we shared some of our favorite cap toed styles, it’s time for you to share some of yours.  Show us how you style your favorite pair of cap toed shoes on twitter, instagram and/or pose.
