Guest Blogger: Camilla from Into the Fold

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

Hi, I’m Camilla! Into The Fold is a personal style blog where I post my outfits, talk about fashion, and sometimes make up words because some things just can’t be described using the dictionary. I like to throw in a few jokes wherever possible, because nothing should be taken too seriously.

Being 15 means that most of the time it’s more practical for me to wear flats, but that doesn’t stop me from constantly growing my impressive collection of heels and whipping them out whenever I get the chance. I always like to experiment with new things in the fashion world. I’ve moved on from only owning massive platform-wedged shoes to expanding my collection with more elegant heels, like these gorgeous bronze Yelena babes from Sam Edelman. These lightweight heels are definitely less dangerous to teeter around in than some of my other shoes, which could double as weapons because they’re so heavy.

I tend to keep my style fuss-free and I enjoy accessorizing simple basics with stand out pieces, such as a piece of jewelry and a stunning pair of shoes. I live by the mantra that “less is more.” Since I prefer heels, it takes a lot for a pair of flat shoes to impress me. The Adena slippers and Flynn sandals caught my eye because of their exquisite details. From the studded goodness of the Adena to the subtle snake print on the Flynn sandal, they were both quirky takes on an original shape.

Into The Fold is a blog written by Camilla Ackley that focuses on personal style and life as a student breaking into the fashion world in London. As it approaches its 3rd birthday, Into The Fold has seen a recent surge of success and is quickly becoming a household name on the London blogging scene.

Stepping Out in Style: An Insider’s Guide to Summer in the Hamptons

Thursday, June 14th, 2012

Now that summer has officially arrived, it’s time for the New York scene to pack up and head out east for some fun in the Hamptons sun.  Whether you’re a first-time renter or a full-blown “Hamptonite”, this summertime hot spot is filled with so many places to go and people to see that it may be difficult to pack it all in to just a few weekends. To make things a bit easier, we’ve prepared a list of our favorite Hamptons hot spots, and even provided a few suggestions for the summertime shoes that should be on your feet when you hit them up.

Ruschmeyer’s

What to do: Spend the weekend at the Montauk hotel, Ruschmeyer’s, a proclaimed summer camp for big kids. Dine on some fresh seafood, and then get in on the action at the colorful bar scene.

What to wear: Get noticed in the patent leather Mallory wedges paired with a pair of distressed white jeans. Finish the look with the radiant cobalt Andy pouchette and a brightly colored tank to complement your sun kissed tan.

The Surf Lodge

What to do: Watch the sunset over the bay in Montauk while enjoying the Surf Lodge’s tasty seafood or a burger. Afterwards, enjoy an evening of dancing and fun in the outdoor bar area.

What to wear: Stay comfortable but chic with the Gigi sandals and a maxi dress. Polish off the look with some glamorous accents, such as a bib necklace and the fringed Georgiana crossbody.

Serafina

What to do: Sit down for a lovely Northern Italian style dinner right on the main strip of East Hampton. Be sure to try one of Serafina’s truly delicious pizzas and pair with a glass or two of wine.

What to wear: Dine in style by wearing the Yelena heels with a floral sundress and a structured colored blazer. Complete the look with a touch of spiked sparkle with the Holmby clutch.

Nick and Toni’s

What to do: With mouthwatering Italian fare and a lively atmosphere, Nick and Toni’s is one East Hampton hot spot you won’t want to miss. Try the Zucchini Chips and Penne alla Vecchia, two menu must-haves.

What to wear: Go for a beach-glam look with the Gracie sandals. Choose a patterned romper and simple accents, such as a string of pearls and the classy Odette saddle bag.

The Beacon

What to do: Enjoy the gorgeous deck view of the boats in Sag Harbor as you indulge in some scrumptious French cuisine. The Beacon is known to be a fabulously romantic spot to watch the sunset!

What to Wear: Go boardwalk chic with the Sophie wedges, a complementary solid color shift dress, and the Cecile small crossbody. Make a statement by choosing some elegant gold jewelry, such as a watch and matching necklace.

Bobby Van’s

What to do: Bobby Van’s Bridgehampton never fails to provide the perfect dose of surf and turf. Indulge in some lobster or steak in the evening and then check out the happening bar scene. If you’re in the mood for an afternoon meal, be sure to check out the steakhouse’s delectable brunch menu.

What to wear: The Arianna wedges are the shoes you’ll want to be seen in. Opt for a classy ensemble of scalloped silk shorts, a black tank, the Hugo messenger, and a summer printed scarf.

Even if you can’t make it out to the Hamptons, be sure to check out our Spring-Summer 2012 collection and pick your next favorite pair of shoes for any summer occasion or beach getaway!

Guest Blogger: Sydney from Style Solutions

Thursday, June 7th, 2012

My name is Sydney and I am the founder of Style Solutions NYC. Growing up in the fashion capital New York City, I’ve learned the importance of showing “you” through your personal style. I describe the way I dress as sophisticated, trendy, and practical. I love to spot the latest trends on the runway and wear pieces that transition well from work during the day to a cocktail party at night. I am always looking for shoes that enhance, but don’t overpower, my outfits, particularly since I am petite. At the same time, I am willing to take risks with colors and styles. If a shoe is really outrageous, I am known to style my outfit around the pair of shoes. Sam Edelman shoes are always on trend and have an edge that is unique. They make it easy for my outfits to look trendy and cool while still being true to my style.

For my colorful and city-chic shift dress, Sam’s Mabel platform sandal was the ideal addition as it brought a summery and bold edge.

The Sophie short heel gave my classic plaid relaxed silhouette a modern touch with the color-block strap, which is so on trend for spring/summer. Lastly, there is nothing like Sam’s bold and sexy Tacoma peep toe pump, which was the perfect complement to my purple-infused ensemble.

Native New Yorker and fashion lover Sydney Sadick founded StyleSolutionsNYC.com, a daily fashion blog. From what Sydney wears and the hottest trends to weekly celebrity, designer, and stylist interviews, Sydney brings you the latest.
