This month, the Metropolitan Museum of Art presents work of late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. On display from May 4th through July 31st, the exhibition will feature McQueen’s most breathtaking, sometimes controversial, designs, honoring the transcendent talent of a genius who not only made an indelible mark on the fashion world, but who also exemplified true artistry.
Museum director Thomas Campbell said, “This landmark exhibition continues the Museum’s tradition of celebrating designers who changed the course of history and culture by creating new possibilities.”
McQueen’s fashions are reflections of the designer’s darker imaginative sense and on the catwalk, his impeccably designed and tailored works were appreciated not only as clothing items, but also as political and social commentary.
The exhibition pieces, gathered from various private collections and archives, reflect the designer’s 19 years in as a designer, are sure to inspire and astound.
