Festival Fashion

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Music lovers and fashionistas rejoice! Spring is approaching, and warmer weather means the start of music festival season.  Rock and roll history proves that music and fashion are not complete without one another, so whether your ticket is for Coachella, Bonnaroo or Glastonbury – we’ve got some style suggestions to help you rock out in style.

Thanks to festival-goers like as Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson, and Kate Bosworth, festival grounds have become THE place to spot fabulous boho-chic street style. Start with a sexy pair of denim cutoffs, wear them with any tank to beat the heat, and throw on a loose fitting jacket after sunset. Pull on a pair of flat ankle boots (sandal-wearers beware—the grounds are muddy) and you’re good to go. Our fringed “Louie” booties add the perfect amount of bohemian flair to any outdoor attire.

Lykke Li: Wounded Rhymes

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Indie-pop star Lykke Li has been on our radar since the release of her 2008 album, Youth Novels, and the Swedish pop sensation’s take on electro pop-rock was so haunting, we could barely wait to listen to her next album. After touring the world, doing endless interviews, and surviving a broken heart, Lykke Li said that she began to question her role in the industry. To clear her head, she moved to a cabin in California and after a lot of soul-searching and bike riding, she’s back in the game with Wounded Rhymes. The self-described “vulnerable” album is full of darker and heavier melodies. We can’t get enough of Lykke Li’s glamazon style in her music video for “Get Some”, a drum beat heavy single that makes us want to throw on a pair of “Valin” platform booties and dance the night away. Wounded Rhymes was released on March 1 and will be followed by a world tour this spring.

Capturing the Parisian Chic

Friday, March 18th, 2011

We have our eyes set on the fashionable streets of Paris, a city whose women represent the crème de la crème of style. Whether or not you’re actually strolling by the Eiffel Tower, we’ve put together a few tips to help you capture the infamous Parisian chic!

• High-waisted trousers are always in style in the City of Lights. Keep it casual in denim, or opt for a pleated pant and heels if you’re feeling très sophisticated.

• Tailoring proves the design is in the details, and tuxedo jackets are a must-have item for Spring 2011. This iconic piece is a favorite go-to style from the Left Bank to the Champs-Élysées.

• Parisians covet their basic wardrobe staples, so balance your look with a simple white pocket T, styled with more attention-grabbing elements.

• Keep your skin looking fresh and au natural by packing a limited edition Bourjois “Rendez-vous à Paris” blush in your bag. The Parisian cosmetic brand has collaborated with artist Juliette Buré to create collectible blush pots decorated with Parisian monuments.

• Parisian women always accessorize! Dress up any casual outfit with an elegant silk scarf or vintage handbag. Add statement jewelry, like oversized rings, to liven up a classic French manicure.

• Of course, the pièce de résistance of Parisian Chic style is on your feet! Complete your look with a pair of our studded “Lorissa” heels, to have people saying “Ooh-la-la,” no matter what street you’re walking on.

Set in Style: Van Cleef & Arpels

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

We all know diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so be sure to check out “Set In Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels,” an exhibition showcasing over 250 pieces of one-of-a-kind jewelry from the world famous design house. Opening at New York City’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum on February 18, this exhibition features jewels, timepieces and objets d’art from Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as a look into the firm’s influence in America.

We are loving the Alhambra line, one of the most iconic designs from Van Cleef & Arpels, that showcases clover-shaped charms elegantly strung on bracelets, necklaces and rings. “Set in Style” is presented in six themes, including Personalities, where you can catch a glimpse of Grace Kelly’s engagement ring and diamonds owned by the legendary Elizabeth Taylor! Get your own bejeweled look with our studded “Exie” sandals that are sure to dazzle with every step.

Winter Shorts

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Make shorts a part of your winter wardrobe à la your favorite stylish celebrities, by pairing them with tights and heeled booties or classic flats. Wool, tweed, leather, and thick boucle fabrics are ultra-chic and seasonally appropriate, especially if your climate calls for sweaters and outerwear. It-girls Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, and Olivia Palermo love wearing denim shorts with opaque black tights, which is a great casual break from skinny jeans. For an edgy downtown vibe, rock a cut-off shorts style with our lace-up “Jagger” bootie. Or, brighten up your winter palette with vibrant-colored legwear and a classic ballet flat for a more playful look with a pop of color. Be sure to accessorize your shorts with winter essentials like scarves, jackets and gloves, to stay both warm and stylish this season!
