Andy Warhol was perhaps the leading visual artist of the Pop Art movement, and a cultural genius with an unrivaled ability to recognize trends in art, fashion and film, years before their time. New York City’s Museum of Modern Art has unveiled a collection of Warhol’s black-and-white films from the early 60’s, allowing a new generation to experience some of his most audacious works of art. The exhibit showcases several of his Screen Tests, featuring celebrity contemporaries such as Lou Reed, Edie Sedgewick, Salvador Dali, and Charles Henri Ford, all filmed at Warhol’s exclusive artist collective, “The Factory.”
The Screen Tests were displayed at a slower speed, showing his appreciation for the silent film era of the early 1920′s. The slower pace of the Tests were juxtaposed by Warhol’s close-ups of his moving subjects, captured with vivid light and strong shadows. Projected onto several large monitors, the exhibit, which opened on December 21st, will be on display until March 2011. Warhol coined the term, “Fifteen minutes of fame,” and he’s is certainly outliving his. We suggest checking out this once in a lifetime experience if you’re in the New York City area! For more about the exhibit check out the MoMA website.

Critics are already calling Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere one of this year’s best films, and we can’t wait to see it! Self-described by Coppola as, “A look into today’s LA,” Somewhere is a refreshing step away from the romanticized portrayal of Hollywood glitz and glamour.
Stephen Dorff portrays Johnny, an A-list actor bored amidst a life of decadence, who is suddenly left responsible for his eleven year old daughter (played by the charming Elle Fanning). Together they steer through the hard-living life of a celebrity, while we observe this vulnerable but extremely loving father-daughter relationship.

Coppola began writing Somewhere while living in Paris, where American tabloids of troubled young celebrities served as inspiration. Filmed mostly on location at the iconic Chateau Marmont on Sunset Boulevard, Somewhere features songs by Phoenix, whose front man happens to be Coppola’s boyfriend. The film opens in theaters on December 22nd and we’ll certainly be there this holiday season!

Keep your eye on LA’s all-girl rock band, Warpaint. Since the release of their debut album,The Fool, long-time friends Emily, Theresa, Jenny and recently added drummer Stella, the quartet are quickly developing a major following. With all the components of a typical rock band – guitar, drums, bass and vocals – the girls in Warpaint stand out with their chilling harmonies and unpredictable melodies, not to mention their on-stage presence and effortless rockstar style.
Outfitted in casual tees, boots, and vintage dresses, the girls of Warpaint keep their look California-Cool. We are loving the country-chic vibe of the video for their hit single, Undertow, and can see why bands like School of Seven Bells, Band of Horses, Yeasayer, The XX and Beach Fossils have scooped them up to tour. The girls are continuing to earn rave album reviews, and have even made a fan out of Justin Timberlake. You can catch Warpaint on tour, or rock out to their album, available on iTunes.

‘Tis the season to be fashionable! Get in the spirit with some style advice from Sam Edelman for all your holiday festivities.
1. Get your shine on! The holiday season is a perfect time for some shimmer, so get the look with a flirty, sequined dress that will add some pizzazz to your party circuit. Keep your accessories and jewelry to a minimum, and choose a cut that you are most comfortable wearing. Pair the Sam Edelman “Vesey” boot with a shiny mini-dress and black tights, and you’re ready for a night that’s anything but silent.
2. Every woman’s go-to, the perfect LBD, is always the right fit for all of your holiday festivities. A chic, fitted silhouette can take you from the office party to an elegant soiree, and everything in between. The Sam Edelman “York” platform pump in a leopard print will add a little sexiness to your basic black, and fresh jewelry and accessories like a colorful clutch, can instantly create an entirely new look for every event on your holiday calendar.

3. Primary colors were all over the runway for both Spring and Fall. Stand out at a more formal affair in a bold color like red or electric blue, and get attention for all the right reasons… Add our fierce, studded “Lorissa” peep-toe pump for the perfect blend of classic and edgy.
4. Just because it’s a low-key gathering doesn’t mean it has to be dull! Dress up your skinny jeans in our elegant
“Nivan” heels. The platform on this T-strap style will add the perfect amount of glamour, letting you look like a million bucks, even when you’re just hangin’ with friends and family.
5. Go glam in lace, one of this season’s sexiest trends. A long-sleeved lace mini dress shows a hint of skin and, paired with our “Niland” pumps, is a modern take on a ladylike silhouette, and the perfect outfit to wear when ringing in 2011!
